In Roanoke Virginia, 2003 John Melai [Muh-LEE-uh] founded the Wounded Warriors Project to provide comfort items for injured veterans returning from Afghanistan and Iraq.
As of early 2025, Wounded Warrior Project® supports a community of more than 272,000 registered warriors, caregivers, and family members. The organization continues to add thousands of new members monthly to its free programs, which focus on mental health, career counseling, and long-term care.

We will celebrate July 4th together as we have enjoyed 250 years of freedom in America, mostly preserved by the woman and men serving in our armed forces, putting their lives on the line to preserve our freedom.
